Just another day in the Park

Some days I just like to go into a workout not even knowing what I'm going to do til i get there. Today, it was outside (as usual) in the park at Sycamore Creek Trail in Dana Point (South Orange County).
I have always had daily goals for wrestling which was the great and effective, but it is nice to just have the goal of feeling good and doing what feels good...today! Some days its KB with added fitness exercises and other days, snatches and clean n jerks, push press...whatever. I love it all!

With a weekend out of town, it's been almost a week since last workout. So today was feeling and getting the heart rate up a little.

After a nice 10-15  min warm-up

     Double KB swings
Double KB walking lunges, carry back in rack
     (5 sets)

     Double KB Cleans
     Double KB Push Press
     (4 sets)

Snatch, Overhead Squat(OS), Windmill (pick up other kb with OS & windmill)
     (3 sets)

Double KB step-ups (on park bench)
     (4 sets -almost no rest)

A little stretching and a nice finish a work day!

If you're not sure what to do for the workout, get at least one hundred swings in the workout and practice some technique.

The new Wednesday Warriors

The Tuesday Crew is now the Wednesday Warriors! Send me an email to be put on our members list for workout information emails. Summer is coming and the daylight is long and what a better day to turn it up for the weekend than hump day.  Might as well finish the week strong and feeling good with a little KB energizer.

Mike H. has us on a "It's push up time" schedule daily at 9a, 11a, 2p, and 4p to achieve a total of 200 push ups a day. Coach Roberts, at 60, is leading the team with four sets of 85 push ups and 340 for the day. Whoa!!?

I've made it to 75 push ups at a time ...and now transitioning to push ups one day, pull ups the next. I used to be able to do (a famous line) 40 pull ups but at this point in time I need to shoot for 20.

...When were YOU in your best shape? I dare you to make it half way there now!

Saturday Doheny Kettlebell Workout

It almost always seems that no matter what an ugly day it may seem to be at first, the  moment you walk onto the sand at the beach everything is much nicer all of the sudden.  Maybe that's just me... with a handful of kettlebells, but you gotta try it.

A great day to get a couple new rookies hooked on kettlebells (FNGs they used to call them at Harvard). I love it. The more I teach kettlebell the more I realize and enjoy the level of detail that is involved with getting better and even more hooked.  Go learn and experience 6 good kettlebell sessions and your hooked. You begin to feel different and better than you probably have felt in a while.

So here we have our FNGs: Rich, long-time wrestler and a coach at San Clemente HS, and his buddy Mike.

Wow. Check out the technique!  Nice Rack Mike!

Thanks for coming down to Kettlebell Beach!
