Technique! Technique! Technique!
First things first, watch Steve Cotter explain the Swing position
This website will provide you with resources and a basic understanding of Kettlebell training. As I progress and improve my skills in Kettlebell training I want to pass it on to you to help you reach your goals in Kettlebell training and overall fitness.
As I've learned with anything in sport, fundamental technique is king. It's important to develop the technique and the discipline to maintain technique in kettlebell training and with any training for that matter. Once you have the fundamentals down, skies the limit. Everyone has their point of initiation as far as a base or understanding of functional movements and body awareness, but it all depends on how good you are willing to be.
One of the most important aspects learning kettlebell training or anything new is being able to forget for a moment what you already know and open your mind for a new experience. I know it's a tough barrier to overcome for many but the rewards are significant. KBC is here to help you.
Make an effort to learn from the best. The world is at your disposal, from books to internet, YouTube, local beginner intro classes, and occasional workshops organized by top trainers and organizations. Some of the top organizations out there are International Kettlebell and Fitness Federation (IKFF), World Kettlebell Club (WKC), and Dragon Door-Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC).
I do not have a tremendous amount of experience with the various organizations but my preference is IKFF and WKC. Steve Cotter runs the IKFF and seems to me to be the master trainer with exceptional technique. Valery Fedorenko, from WKC, is a master competitor and holds world records in the Kettlebell Sport style. Others that I have considered to be subject matter experts are Pavel Tsatsouline, Steve Maxwell, and Mike Mahler. Learn from the best to be the best you can be.
First things last, learn the Rack position. The Swing and the Rack are two key essentials to kettlebebell training. Check out Steve Cotter on the Rack position in this video.
